Dancing in the seas ~ you and me

In the hungry early morning waves,

You and I walked into their bay.

Our shriveled hands holding each other,

Strengthened by the 49 years of togetherness,

That this ageing weakness could never understand.

We both smiled as our heels left marks in the sand,

Slowly closing into the waters, into their vacant arms.

We held each other tighter,

For the waves were getting strong,

And we were going in them, deeper.

As the water surrounded us now,

You took both my hands,

And began humming the tune from our wedding that we both sang,

And slowly, we began dancing to the music of the fresh morning,

The waters, the wind, and just you and me.

We had left the world far behind,

In the lap of this ocean,

Letting ourselves be just enough,

To the time and this precious moment.
