Are we guided by fear?

Fear, is a word that we all want to overcome. It makes us question our ambition and at the same time, highlights the flaws. The incapacity that we have is further burdened by fear. But it works the other way too. Somehow, we necessitate the idea of fear driving us to achieve and at the same time fight our situation. It is symptomatic I believe. When we start narrating our choices based on worst outcomes, we make fear a companion. We block our capacities in the face of what could go wrong, and how long could it linger on. At the same time, when we know that this could be the worst case scenario, we accept it and it starts looking smaller, or we drop the plot altogether. We realise we should do something else, or keep plucking our a few more thorns from our paths. Fight or flight, right?

Our nervous system teaches us this simple lesson every time we face an unprecedented situation. You fight it or take a flight. In this case, I am still trying to understand, is being guided by fear, fair? Does it somewhere help in building courage so every time a fearful voice starts talking in our minds, we overcome it and go ahead with the task anyway. Does it deter us from doing exactly what we want to do, because we fear failure? It is bothersome, but imminent to our cause. We have to learn to build our fibre around fear and use it as a talisman to achieve what we want to.

Any thoughts or questions on this are welcome. :)
